Create a Wish List on Amazon for Your Classroom

Why Should I Create an Amazon Wish List for my Classroom?

As teachers, we all know the feeling of going above and beyond for our students, but sometimes it can be tough to get the resources we need to make our classrooms truly thrive. That’s where creating an Amazon wish list for the classroom comes in!

It truly does take a village to raise a child. As a classroom teacher, you have a network of people who may want to help support the students in your classroom. The problem is, helping support a classroom isn’t as streamlined as it seems!

When you create an Amazon wish list for your classroom, anyone who wants to send support your way can easily do so. You can share your Amazon wish list to parents of your current students, parents from past classes, or even your network of family and friends. (Thanks, social media!)

What is an Amazon Wish List, and How Does an Amazon Wish List Help Teachers?

First things first: what is a teacher wish list on Amazon? It’s exactly what it sounds like – a list of items that you wish you had for your classroom, available for anyone to purchase and send your way. It’s a great way to get the resources you need without having to spend your own money.

We’ve found the most success sharing our classroom Amazon wish list during a few key seasons. The first is back-to-school season. Parents and community members are looking for ways to help students get set up for a great school year, and an Amazon wish list is the perfect way to give back. You can also look on social media using the hashtag #clearthelist to find corporations and even celebrities buying a teachers’ entire Amazon wish list! (Wouldn’t that be amazing?)

Here at PopPD, we love to clear classroom Amazon wish lists whenever we can. We also regularly share teachers’ Amazon wish lists with our network of Edtech companies and investors to get you the resources you need. Fill out our form here to add your Amazon wish list to our database.

Believe it or not, Black Friday is another time people may want to help clear your list. Everyone loves getting a good deal, and you can use sales to help drive people toward certain items on your Amazon wish list for your classroom!

How Do I Create an Amazon Wish List for my Classroom?

Now, onto the fun part: creating your own teacher wish list on Amazon! Here’s how to do it:

  • Head to Amazon and log in to your account.
  • On the top menu, hover over “Accounts & Lists” and click on “Your Lists.”
  • Click on “Create a List” and select “Wish List” from the dropdown menu.
  • Give your wish list a name – something catchy like “Mrs. Smith’s Classroom Wish List” or “Our Dream Classroom” will do the trick.

Now it’s time to start adding items to your wish list! You can search for items on Amazon and add them to your list by clicking on the “Add to List” button. You can also add items that you find on other websites by using the “Add a Product” feature and entering the URL of the item you want to add.

How Do I Share the Amazon Wish List for my Classroom?

As a teacher, you may have created an Amazon wish list filled with all of the items you need for your classroom. But how do you share this wish list with others who may want to help you out?

Here are a few simple steps for sharing your Amazon wish list:

  • First, log into your Amazon account and go to “Your Lists”.
  • From there, select the wish list you want to share and click on the “Share” button.
  • This will bring up a pop-up window where you can enter the email addresses of the people you want to share your list with. You can also add a personal message to include with the list.
  • Once you’ve entered the email addresses and added your message, click “Send”. Your list will now be shared with the people you’ve chosen.

If you want to share your list with a wider audience, you can also copy the link to your list and share it on social media or through email. To do this, go to the “Share” button and click on “Copy Link”. Then, paste the link wherever you want to share it.

The best way to compel your network to support your classroom is to explain what the items on your wish list are for, and how they will help students. If you’re creating an Amazon wish list for a project and you need notebooks and binders, tell your network about the project and how important the notebooks are to the success of the project. If you have permission to share pictures of your classroom, that helps too!

Oh, and one last quick tip! Don’t forget to enter your school address and your name to your Amazon wish list’s settings. Make sure your school secretary knows you may be receiving Amazon packages. Don’t worry, Amazon keeps your address confidential. If someone makes a purchase, they will only see your name, city, and state. (For more information, see Amazon’s privacy notice.)
