Course Description

An introduction to helping upper elementary and middle school students enjoy research and share their passion with an authentic audience through thoughtful planning and intentional supports to ensure student success in just an hour and 30 minutes!

Professional Practice Goal

Middle school librarians and classroom teachers will develop their understanding of what a Passion Research Project looks like and how it is applied in a classroom setting, developing an overview and outline of their goals for instruction in a supportive co-planning environment in order to implement this project with their students.

Sarah Scholl is a middle school librarian who focuses on designing meaningful research experiences which are realistic and accessible for all students. Grounded in enhancing student engagement, Sarah has been teaching the Passion Research Project with her middle school students since 2016 and has seen first hand the value of putting students in a position to follow their passions with guided research support.
