I'm an enthusiastic certified art teacher/teaching artist, museum educator and book artist/illustrator with a BFA in illustration/graphic communications and a MAT in art education PreK-12. As a lifelong book artist and illustrator, and NYC's Center for Book Arts Featured Artist in 1995, I bring my personal passion for book arts to my classes - I'm very well-acquainted with the excitement bookmaking can bring to the classroom! I've honed my bookmaking instructional methods over many years of teaching, and pride myself on sharing techniques in a way that makes it easy for students to remember how to do it again by themselves.
I've led bookmaking workshops for kids through various cultural institutions, as well as in school and senior center residencies. I've led numerous teacher trainings / PDs for the Center for Book Arts, NYC Department of Education, and NY Public Libraries, and presentations for teachers at NJAE and National Art Education Association conferences.
I taught families and school groups for 23 years at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, along with other museums like The Morgan Library & Museum (where I led numerous bookmaking workshops for families and teachers) and The Jewish Museum.
I'm very excited to share my enthusiasm with all of you here at PopPD!
